Gonzaga and BYU have had many battles in college basketball as rivals in the West Coast Conference. But with the Cougars moving to the Big 12 this season, those games stopped for the time being.

But that didn’t stop Bulldogs coach Mark Few from giving his thoughts on BYU’s performance in its new conference during NCAA Tournament media day in Salt Lake City.

“Man, they’ve had a heck of a year,” Few said of the Cougars. “They’ve been just exceptional. Basically the same team that was in our league last year. They’ve done a great job just on the national spectrum, but also just grinding it out in that league night in, night out.”

BYU landed the No. 6 seed in the tournament and will play Duquesne on Thursday in Omaha, Neb. The Cougars finished the season 23-10 overall, but felt they deserved a higher seed in the tournament.
